Desktop based Application Vs Web based Application using Java

MD club’s 2nd event was conducted on 12th of June 2021 from 1:30 pm to 3:30 PM. The event was attended by 47 students from 4th semester and 6th semester of NHCE.
The resource person of the event, Mr. Arpit Jain, is the Centre head at Centre of Excellence in Information Technology, Namibia, South Africa – under the project of CDAC & MEA. He has also served in the Indian Army as a part of the Cyber Security Department.
The topics covered as a part of this session were as follows:
• Working of websites
• Architecture
• JSP and Servlets
• Desktop based application
• Java Foundation Classes
• SWING
• Demonstration
The attendees got an idea of what makes the web applications different from the desktop applications. With the help of the demonstration, our presenter was able to give a much clearer picture of the approach that has to be followed while building a desktop application.
As a part of the demonstration, a form was made that took input from the user and displayed the content on a widget. The code was explained in detail, so that the attendees could gain enough knowledge in order to build their own GUI application right away.
The event ended with the doubt clarification session and feedback received for the session was very positive.
