A Report on Diwali Celebration 2021

Diwali is a festival of lights & symbolizes the spiritual “victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance. Diwali is the day Lord Rama, his wife Sita Devi and brother Lakshmana return to their homeland after 14 years in exile. The villagers lit a path for Rama, who had defeated the demon king Ravana. The people of Ayodhya lined the streets and their homes with oil wicks in clay lamps to welcomed them. People also celebrate the Hindu Goddess Lakshmi during Diwali. As the goddess of prosperity, wealth and fertility, the romantic Diwali story says that she chose Lord Vishnu, one of Hinduism’s most important deities, to be her husband on the night of Diwali.

New Horizon College of Engineering celebrated Diwali at NHCE campus on 27th October 2021. The college campus was decorated with full of lights, beautiful display of art and Art club has designed swastika rangoli on the lawn, decorated with flowers and light it with diyas. The celebration music was started at 4.30pm.

The program started at 5.30pm by welcoming all the dignitaries by student emcees. The cultural program was kick started with beautiful classical dance by the students and this dance received standing ovation by the chairman. Followed by folk dance which represented happiness and celebration. There was a melodius performance by the Music Club students.
After that NHCE dance team presented Kathak which demonstrated the story of Diwali as and how Lord Ram defeated Ravana and saved Sita. The next dance was a celebrating dance in connection with the previous scenario. The dance was a Garba dance form. The final dance was a grand event were all the dancers joined the stage and performed different dance forms such as Locking and Popping, Whacking, Kathak, Classical, Bollywood, Bhangra.

There was a special performance by NHC, Kasturinagar students which was beautifully depicted the story of Lord Rama, a celebration of the day Rama returned to his kingdom Ayodhya with his wife Sita and his brother Lakshmana after defeating Ravana in Lanka and serving 14 years of exile.

The various competition was organized for students on the theme Diwali, the winners were announced & distributed the prizes.

Lighting of diya has done by all the Dignitaries, Staff members and students.
Fireworks displayed at the campus & there were so many bright colors and loud bang.
Celebration was ended by distributing the snacks to all the students and staff members.
