SARGAM - 2014

New Horizon Educational Institution organized a two day State Level Inter Collegiate Cultural Fest, ‘Sargam’ on 19 th and 20 th of September, 2014. A huge gathering of around 20000 students were witnessed in both the days of the fest. Around 3000 participants were registered in the fest. The students came from various PU, Degree and Engineering Colleges all across the state of Karnataka. About 159 colleges participated in the mega event. “Superheroes” was the theme for Sargam, 2014. It was indeed a celebration not only for New Horizonites but for every person involved. As always this year too, Sargam 2014 Superheroes aimed at bringing the student community together under one roof shedding away all the differences, bringing a sense of unity and team work among them.

Mr. Sharath Gayakwad, International Swimmer, graced the occasion as Chief Guest. He asked students to work hard and hard till you reach your goal. His motivational speech was attracted by all the students. (Mam please add he spoke about teacher) Marking this gigantic event of celebrations, enroute stood the collection of creativity and expressions in form of a souvenir. The Souvenir released by Chief Guest and dignitaries on dais. Followed by Book release written by Mr. Arun Kumar Reddy who is presently studying in New Horizon College, Marathalli.

This year’s major attraction was two mega events i.e a group dance on “Halla Bol” and “Fashion Show” which has a first prize of Rs. 75000 each and both were bagged by New Horizon College, Marathalli Campus. While second prizes of Rs. 25000 were bagged by New Horizon College of Engineering in Fashion Show and Jain University in Halla Bol. There are a number of other events as well with exciting cash prizes. They include Group Dance (filmy), Contemporary Dance, Street Dance, Battle of Bands,Collage, Painting, Photography, Mime, Mock Rock, Switch Foot, Singing (group and solo), Computer Gaming, Short Movie Making. The entire campus was full of young energetic people who have come to entertain and to be entertained. The event witnessed exuberance performances and the juke box which played nonstop music held thousands of students for hours together.

Dr. Shankar Bidari, DGP(Retd.) Govt. of Karnataka was the Chief Guest for the Valedictory function held on 20 th September 2014. Winners of both Junior and Senior events were rewarded and the overall best performance college award went to New Horizon College, Marathalli. Scholarship award was given to college topper and toppers in each department.

At the end the theme of Sargam 2015 – ‘VOICE OUT’ was announced amid the jubilant audience.
