Date: 25th November 2025.

Venue: Chatrapati Shivaji Block, New Horizon College of Engineering.

The NSS Club of New Horizon College of Engineering successfully organized an impactful and engaging event titled “The Street Voice Documentary Challenge.” The initiative aimed to encourage students to step beyond the campus walls, interact with the public, and understand the real social issues faced by citizens in their everyday lives.

The core idea of the event was to promote social awareness, empathy, and active listening, enabling students to document genuine voices from the streets. Participants were required to approach people in public spaces, ask them about the challenges they face, and gather valuable opinions, insights, and suggestions directly from the community. Each team had to compile these interactions into a 2 to 2.5-minute documentary-style video, capturing authentic narratives and presenting them creatively.

The documentaries showcased a wide range of social concerns—from traffic and pollution to waste management, public safety, mental health awareness, and civic responsibility. Students not only highlighted the issues but also captured the public’s recommendations for practical and positive change.

After the submission of the videos, a dedicated screening session was conducted in the presence of all the participants and NSS club members. This created a vibrant and interactive environment where everyone could reflect on the diverse issues highlighted, ranging from civic cleanliness to traffic concerns, women’s safety, environmental awareness, and community development. The screening not only showcased the creativity of the students but also provided a valuable learning experience as each documentary brought out a unique perspective from different parts of the city.

After careful evaluation based on creativity, clarity, social relevance, and overall impact, the winners were announced:

Winner: Prajegalu

Runner-Up: Voices of Namma Ooru

Second Runner-Up: Trio Sparkles

All winning teams were awarded exciting goodies as a token of appreciation for their hard work and dedication.

The Street Voice Documentary Challenge proved to be an insightful platform that strengthened students’ social consciousness while enhancing their communication, interviewing, and storytelling skills. The NSS Club looks forward to organizing more such meaningful initiatives that contribute to both student development and community awareness
