Social Service Visit to Tribal Village

Date: Thursday, 06th November 2025

Venue: HD Kote, Hunsur Taluk, Mysuru District

The NSS Club of New Horizon College of Engineering, had a notable achievement by contributing for a social cause by visiting HD Kote, Hunsur Taluk, Mysuru District– one among the 80 tribal villages adopted by our institution . The visit aimed to observe the progress of welfare activities, inaugurate newly built homes, and interact with the tribal community to better understand their needs and way of life.

During the visit, two newly constructed homes were inaugurated for homeless families, marking a significant step toward improving their living conditions. The joy and gratitude expressed by the beneficiaries deeply moved everyone present. The NSS volunteers actively interacted with the villagers, engaging in meaningful conversations that offered valuable insights into their traditions, challenges, and hopes for the future. This interaction fostered mutual respect and strengthened the bond between the students and the local community. A major highlight of the visit was the inauguration of a newly constructed temple for the tribal community.

In the past, the villagers offered their prayers to a simple stone, which symbolized their deep-rooted faith and devotion. Understanding the cultural and spiritual significance of this practice, our institution took the initiative to build a proper temple for them — a place where they can now gather, pray, and celebrate their festivals with dignity and joy. The temple stands as a symbol of respect for their traditions while also marking a new chapter of hope, unity, and cultural identity for the entire community.

The visit was an enriching and eye-opening experience for all NSS volunteers. It inspired us to continue working toward social transformation and to contribute meaningfully to the enlistment of underprivileged sections of society. The initiative reflected the true spirit of the NSS motto — “Not Me, But You.
