Janmashtami, the birthday of Lord Krishna is celebrated with great devotion and enthusiasm on September 2 , that is on Ashtami of Krishna paksh or the 8th day of the dark fortnight. On this day temples and homes are decorated and illuminated.
On this special we the members of the NSS club from the New Horizon College Of Engineering had an opportunity to serve the Lord by helping out the devotees through volunteering the event which was held in the MTB Shubhameru Kalyana Mantapa, opp.EMC , Mahadevpura.
The students over there enjoyed helping those devotees with the work to be completed. There were multiple competitions held for small kids like painting where they were given a Krishna picture which they had to fill it up with colours and those kids did wonderful job. We just admired them. One more event was Shloka telling. The kids were just amazing.
Now, coming to us we members aligned those benches, helped them in arranging those stage for events. Each member had been given a perfect role like few at the Prasadam counter, one at the donation counter few members the queue management for the proper maintenance of the people allowing them in order to get the blessing of the Lord Krishna.
There were students helping in the food counter, those books and poster selling. Few students were assigned to provide juice to the people who were standing all day and doing their assigned work.
Finally the day ended with having delicious food provided by the devotees to us. We also had an opportunity to click a picture with the poojari who has been serving Lord Krishna from a long time.
Finally the day ended with those selfies and pictures of the complete team. It was a day to be remembered and earning that punya by serving Lord Krishna on his birthday. Seeing those small kids with huge talents was amazing. Volunteering was a different experience and the people over there treating us in the best way possible. The day did not end with the hardships but with the memories which we acquired through this amazing opportunity.
