The NSS Club of New Horizon College of Engineering, had a notable achievement by contributing for a social cause by participating in the Walkathon organized by  CRY (Child Rights and You).

The event revolved around the theme “STEM opens doors to the future.” This idea highlights how Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics have become the keys to opportunities and progress in today’s world. However, while these fields are shaping the future, many girls from rural and low-income communities are unable to access them due to lack of resources, awareness, and equal opportunities. This leaves them at risk of being left behind in a rapidly advancing world. CRY, through initiatives like this Walkathon, is working to bridge this gap by ensuring that every child, especially girls, has the chance to explore education in STEM and unlock a brighter tomorrow.

The Walkathon drew enthusiastic participation from more than 300 students of New Hor

izon College of Engineering, making it a truly vibrant and spirited gathering. The event began on an energetic note with a unique plank challenge session, where students from NHCE participated and showcased their determination and strength.

This powerful start set the tone for the day, symbolizing resilience, balance, and the qualities that education instills in young minds. The walk within Cubbon Park then commenced, with participants walking in unity while carrying banners and placards that promoted education and equality. Chants and slogans filled the atmosphere, echoing the message that bridging the STEM education gap is essential for building a progressive and inclusive society.

Adding to the vibrancy of the event, the venue was decorated with colorful artwork and creative installations that represented innovation, knowledge, and the power of equal opportunities. Several engaging activities were organized to involve participants, including Snake and Ladder with a message, Origami, Bookmark Making, and Face Painting. These stalls were managed by enthusiastic NHCE student volunteers, encouraged creativity, fun, and awareness, making the event not only impactful but also interactive. The efforts of the volunteers ensured that every participant felt engaged and inspired throughout the day.

The event also stood out for its inclusivity, as it brought together participants from diverse colleges and organizations, all walking with a shared goal of supporting underprivileged children, particularly girls, in accessing STEM education. This spirit of collaboration and solidarity highlighted the fact that the responsibility of bridging the education gap belongs to society.

Every participant in the Walkathon was awarded a medal and provided with refreshments, a gesture that acknowledged their efforts and reinforced the sense of unity and accomplishment. The camaraderie, energy, and enthusiasm of the day left a lasting impression on all who attended, motivating them to continue supporting this noble cause.

The Walkathon was not just a walk—it was a movement that carried the strong message of education, equality, and

empowerment. With over 300 NHCE students leading the effort, alongside participants from colleges , the event succeeded in raising awareness and inspiring action. The NSS Club of New Horizon College of Engineering is proud to have been part of this impactful initiative and looks forward to contributing to more such events in the future, continuing its journey towards creating a society where no child is left behind.
