“Donate Blood, Save Lives”.
On 21st March 2025, the NSS Club of New Horizon College of Engineering, in collaboration with Sankalp India Foundation, successfully organized a Blood Donation Drive at the library on the ground floor of Amar Jawan Block. The drive aimed to support children suffering from thalassemia, emphasizing the importance of voluntary blood donation in saving lives. The initiative was driven by the core belief that each donation has the potential to give someone a second chance at life.
The event commenced at 10:00 AM with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolizing the spirit of service and humanity. Faculty members, student volunteers and representatives from Sankalp India Foundation graced the occasion, encouraging participants to contribute to this noble cause. The presence of esteemed dignitaries added to the solemnity of the occasion, and their words of encouragement motivated many first-time donors to step forward and participate.
The response to the drive was overwhelming, with over 240 enthusiastic donors coming forward to donate blood. The meticulous planning and execution by the NSS Club, along with the dedicated medical professionals from Sankalp India Foundation, ensured that the donation process was smooth, safe, and efficient. Stringent medical checks were conducted before each donation to ensure the eligibility of donors, and well-trained medical staff monitored the entire process closely.
To ensure the well-being of all donors, post-donation care was given high priority. Refreshments, including fruits, juices and biscuits, were provided to help donors recover their energy. Additionally, volunteers from the NSS Club assisted in guiding donors through the registration, donation, and recovery process, ensuring a seamless experience. The enthusiasm and dedication of the student volunteers played a crucial role in the smooth conduct of the event.
The drive concluded at 04:00 PM, marking a remarkable achievement in raising awareness about blood donation and its life-saving impact. The collected blood units will be utilized for children suffering from thalassemia, thereby making a significant difference in their lives. Many children with thalassemia depend on regular blood transfusions, and this initiative will directly contribute to improving their quality of life.
Beyond the numbers, the event succeeded in educating and inspiring students about the importance of regular blood donation. Many first-time donors expressed their satisfaction in being able to contribute to such a meaningful cause, and several pledged to become regular donors in the future. The event also served as a platform for discussions on health, wellness and the science behind blood donation, dispelling myths and encouraging more individuals to participate in similar initiatives.
The Blood Donation Drive was a grand success, reinforcing the message of compassion and selflessness. It served as an inspiration for future initiatives aimed at contributing to society. The NSS Club and Sankalp India Foundation extend their heartfelt gratitude to all donors, volunteers and supporters who made this event impactful and meaningful. Their efforts and enthusiasm were instrumental in making the drive a resounding success.
Special appreciation is extended to the medical team from Sankalp India Foundation for their dedication and professionalism, ensuring a safe and efficient donation process. The organizing team of the NSS Club deserves recognition for their exceptional coordination and hard work in making the event possible.
The event set a benchmark for future blood donation drives, demonstrating the power of collective action in making a tangible difference in society. With continued efforts and awareness, such initiatives will help build a stronger and healthier community for all.
