Walk to EmpowHer – 2024

The NSS Club of New Horizon College of Engineering, Bengaluru, marked a significant contribution to social change by participating in the “Walk to EmpowHer” Walkathon organized by CRY (Child Rights and You). This impactful event focused on promoting awareness about empowering underprivileged children, particularly girls, through the transformative power of education.
The Walkathon witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 120 students from New Horizon College of Engineering, making it a vibrant and spirited group. The event kicked off with an engaging and energetic warm-up session, where all attendees joined a lively dance routine. This fun-filled activity brought together participants from diverse backgrounds, setting a positive and inclusive tone for the day’s events.
Adding to the event’s appeal, the venue was thoughtfully decorated with photo booths and captivating artwork created by children. These elements not only brightened the space but also reinforced the core message of the event—celebrating the potential of children when nurtured with care and opportunity.
The 4 km Walkathon commenced at Freedom Park, proceeded to Vidhana Soudha, and returned to Freedom Park. The route, symbolic of progress and determination, saw participants walking with unity and purpose.
Besides the students of New Horizon College, the event brought together employees of Oracle Company and students from other esteemed institutions, including R.V. College of Engineering, M.S. Ramiah Institute of Technology, Don Bosco College, and Acharya Institute of Technology. This diverse mix of participants highlighted the universal importance of the cause and the collective responsibility of society to address it.
The event was further enlivened by the chanting of the slogan “Poori Padhai, Desh ki Bhalai” throughout the walk. These powerful words resonated with the crowd, emphasizing the vital role of education in building a better and more equitable nation. The unified voices of hundreds of participants echoed the belief that empowering children through education is fundamental to societal progress. The Bengaluru Walkathon was part of a larger initiative, with similar events held simultaneously in Chennai and Hyderabad. This multi-city approach amplified the impact of the campaign, showcasing CRY’s commitment to addressing educational inequality on a broader scale.
The Walkathon concluded on a high note, with CRY ensuring the comfort of all participants by providing refreshments. The camaraderie, energy, and shared sense of purpose were palpable as participants reflected on the significance of their efforts. he “Walk to EmpowHer” Walkathon was a resounding success, not only in terms of participation but also in delivering a strong message about the importance of education and empowerment.
