MOVIECON’25 – Strike A Pose

VENUE: Outdoor Basketball Court, New Horizon College of Engineering
The Drama Club in collaboration with the Media Team conducted the event “Strike A Pose” as part of the grand fest MOVIECON’25 on 17th April 2025. The event commenced at 12:00 PM and concluded around 3:00 PM. A large crowd of enthusiastic students gathered to cheer on the participants and enjoy the lively ambience. Participants were invited to the Outdoor Basketball Court where they had to strike their best and most creative poses in front of the camera. The event was filled with vibrant energy as students showcased their confidence and charm through a variety of expressive and photogenic poses.
The judging criteria were based on expression, posture, originality, and photogenic appeal. The judges and photographers captured multiple shots, and the most striking and captivating poses were selected for final judgement. The titles of Most Photogenic were awarded to Mr. Tarun and Ms. Priyanka for their exceptional stage presence and natural posing abilities. They were crowned with sashes and received gifts in recognition of their performance.  
Overall, Strike A Pose was a fun-filled and energetic event that added charm and creativity to MOVIECON’25. The participants, judges, and audience thoroughly enjoyed the event, making it a memorable segment of the fest.

MOVIECON’25 – Star in Focus

TIME: 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM

VENUE: Tejas Seminar Hall, New Horizon College of Engineering
The Drama Club conducted the event Star in Focus as part of the grand fest MOVIECON’25 on 17th April 2025. The event commenced at 2:00 PM and concluded around 4:00 PM.   Participants took center stage for the Star in Focus event, where they delivered compelling and imaginative solo performances. The event was charged with enthusiasm as students demonstrated their confidence, stage presence, and expressive abilities, bringing a diverse range of characters and emotions to life through powerful monologues. The judging criteria were based on expression, body language, stage presence, and dialogue delivery. There were two rounds in total. The first round consisted of participants showcasing their individual skills, while the second round was an improv round. In this round, participants were paired up and given an on-the-spot scene, along with two minutes to prepare.    


The Star in Focus event concluded with Mr. Joyson C J securing the First Prize for his powerful and engaging performance, while Mr. Karthik earned the Second Prize for his impressive portrayal and stage presence.


Overall, Star in Focus was a dynamic and engaging event that brought creativity and theatrical flair to MOVIECON’25. With enthusiastic participation and captivating performances, the event was thoroughly enjoyed by the participants, judges, and audience alike—making it a standout and memorable highlight of the fest.

MOVIECON’25 – CineInk

TIME: 02:00 PM to 04:00 PM

VENUE: Umbrella Canteen, New Horizon College of Engineering
CineInk, a vibrant celebration of creativity and cinematic expression, featured an exciting Face Painting competition as part of the MovieCon Fest conducted by the Art Club. This event offered a unique opportunity for participants to use human faces as their canvas and bring cinematic or abstract concepts to life using color, design, and storytelling through paint.

The Face Painting competition began with an enthusiastic welcome, and participants were briefed on the rules and judgment criteria. Each team consisted of 2 members – one painter and one canvas. Participants showcased their imagination, bringing diverse themes from films, emotions, and fantasy realms to life.

Winners:
1st Place: Neha Yamini and Bikey Sharma (NHCM)
2nd Place: Abdiel Sain and Himani Nim (NHCM)
The winners were awarded with both certifications and cash prizes, presented by Anitha Mam. The Face Painting event under CineInk was a colorful success, celebrating artistic expression in its raw and imaginative form. It created a buzz around campus and gave artists a platform to express themselves. The Art Club looks forward to hosting more such events in the future.  

MOVIECON’25 – Walk of Fame

VENUE: Outdoor Basketball Court, New Horizon College of Engineering
Event Overview:
The Fashion Club conducted the event Walk of Fame as part of the grand fest MOVIECON’25 on 17th April 2025. The event commenced at 2:00 PM and concluded around 3:00 PM. A large crowd of enthusiastic students gathered to cheer on the participants and enjoy the lively ambience. Three colleges, namely Vemana Institute Of Technology, Ramaiah College of Arts and Commerce, and New Horizon College, took part in the event. Participants were arranged greenrooms to change into their fashion attires and were invited to the outdoor basketball court to perform. The theme of the event was cinema. The performances were based on films, bringing iconic characters, legendary directors, and timeless genres to life on the runway. All performances were seamless and visually stunning presentations.

Judgement Criteria:
• Creativity of clothing designs
• Coordination of the walk
Winners:

The Walk of Fame winner was Vemana Institute of Technology, who impressed the judges with their outstanding presentation and creativity. As a recognition of their excellence, they were awarded a cash prize of ₹6,000 and certificates for each team member.


Conclusion:

The Walk of Fame had captivating performances and was thoroughly enjoyed by the audience and the judge. Overall, it was a standout and memorable highlight of MOVIECON’25.

MOVIECON’25 – Scene and Script

VENUE: Library, New Horizon College of Engineering
Event Overview:

The Drama Club conducted the event Scene and Script as part of one of the biggest drama fests, MOVIECON’25, on 17th April 2025. The event commenced at 3:00 PM and concluded at 4:30 PM. The results were announced later at 5:30 PM.

Scene and Script celebrated the power of imagination where storytelling and creativity took center stage. In this unique event, participants were given just an opening line—each from a different genre—and tasked with crafting compelling plots around it. The event challenged the scriptwriters to think on their feet, adapt to diverse genres, and build a narrative within a short span of time.

With a mix of spontaneity, structure, and storytelling flair, Scene and Script turned into a creative battleground where words ruled and imagination ran wild.

• Coherence – 5 marks
• Boldness – 5 marks
• Adherence to Theme – 5 marks

• First Place: ₹2,000 cash prize and winner certificate

• 2nd Place: Jaisim Balakrishna (Christ University)


Conclusion:
Scene and Script concluded on a high note, leaving behind a trail of brilliant ideas, diverse genres, and truly imaginative storytelling. While every participant brought something unique to the table—be it gripping plots, vivid characters, or bold twists—the two winning scripts stood out by perfectly aligning with all five judging criteria.

MOVIECON’25 – Costume Con

Event Overview:

The Drama Club, in collaboration with the Art and Fashion Club, successfully hosted the much-anticipated MOVIECON’25 on 17th April 2025. The event featured the vibrant segment, Costume Con, where participants showcased their creativity by embodying and portraying some of the most iconic movie characters.

Costume Con provided an exciting opportunity for students to delve into the world of cinema through fashion, expression, and dramatic performance. The event began at 12:00 PM, with participants eagerly walking the ramp, displaying elaborate costumes, and performing short skits or expressions in character.


Judging:

The judging panel was led by the esteemed Ms. Soundarya Gowda, Miss Globe India. She evaluated contestants based on confidence, creativity, elegance, and authenticity of character portrayal. Ms. Gowda’s expertise and feedback throughout the event elevated the experience for everyone involved.


Winners:

First Place: Aditya (Hastar from Tumbbad) – ₹5000 cash prize
Second Place: Adisheshan (Lawyer Ambi from Anniyan) – ₹3000 cash prize
Special Mention: Navya (Gangubai from Gangubai Kathiawadi)


Highlights:

Aditya’s chilling portrayal of Hastar, complete with an intricate costume and eerie presence, earned him the Best Dressed title and the audience’s applause. Adisheshan’s compelling performance as Lawyer Ambi impressed the judges with precision and attention to detail. Navya’s emotional and powerful portrayal of Gangubai left a lasting impact, earning her a well-deserved Special Mention.


Conclusion:

Overall, MOVIECON’25 was a resounding success, filled with color, creativity, and enthusiasm. The winners of the Costume Con event were announced at 3:00 PM, and prizes were distributed by Ms. Soundarya Gowda. The event not only celebrated the art of costume and character portrayal but also brought the community together for a truly spectacular celebration.

MOVIECON’25 – Squid Games

Event Overview:

The Drama Club, in collaboration with the Art and Fashion Club, conducted an exciting event called Squid Games as part of MOVIECON’25 on 17th April 2025. The event began at 3:00 PM and concluded around 4:00 PM. A lively audience gathered around the Open Basketball Court, creating a thrilling atmosphere as they cheered for the participants.

The event featured two exciting rounds inspired by the popular Squid Game series. The games tested the participants’ agility, strategy, and reflexes, keeping both players and spectators on the edge of their seats.


Rounds:

Round 1 – Green Light, Red Light: Participants raced toward the finish line, freezing perfectly during “Red Light” and moving swiftly during “Green Light.” Only the most disciplined and alert competitors progressed to the next round.

Round 2 – Round and Round: Inspired by the traditional children’s game from the series, this round demanded sharp reflexes, focus, and endurance to survive and win.

Conclusion:

The Squid Games event was a grand success, keeping participants and the audience engaged and thrilled throughout. With a perfect blend of strategy, speed, and excitement, the event added vibrant energy and excitement to MOVIECON’25, leaving everyone eagerly awaiting future editions.

MOVIECON’25 – Bite-Sized Cinema

VENUE: Tejas Seminar Hall, New Horizon College of Engineering
Event Overview:

The Drama Club, in collaboration with the Art and Fashionista Clubs, successfully conducted MOVIECON’25 — a grand Drama Festival on 17th April 2025. One of the major highlights of the fest was the short film event, Bite-Sized Cinema, showcasing the creativity and talent of aspiring filmmakers. The event drew significant attention and enthusiastic participation from students and attendees alike.

Event Day:

The event began at 3:30 PM with Arya Jha serving as the anchor. Her excellent hosting skills and high energy levels kept the audience engaged throughout the screenings. As the event progressed, the venue filled with an even larger crowd, reflecting the popularity and excitement surrounding Bite-Sized Cinema. The event successfully wrapped up by 8:00 PM.
   
Guest Appearance:

The event was graced by the presence of Mr. Bharath and Mr. Puneeth, renowned filmmakers. They arrived at 2:30 PM, were warmly welcomed by the college officials, and toured various ongoing events, interacting with participants before attending the screenings.


Screenings:

After the campus tour, Mr. Bharath and Mr. Puneeth were escorted to the Tejas Seminar Hall, where the short film screenings began around 3:30 PM. The audience was treated to a series of outstanding short films, each demonstrating unique storytelling, technical finesse, and creative vision.


Results:

Best Film Award: Akash P, Kristu Jayanti College
Second Best Film Award: Vaishnav Menon, Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences


Conclusion:

The Bite-Sized Cinema event at MOVIECON’25 was a resounding success, delivering an engaging and enjoyable experience for all attendees. The high quality of the films reflected the immense talent and potential of the student filmmakers. The valuable interactions with the guest filmmakers and the memorable short films made Bite-Sized Cinema a standout highlight of MOVIECON’25.
