MOVIECON’26 – Echo (Mono-acting)

The Drama Club, in collaboration with the Art Club, conducted the event “Echo” as part of the grand fest MOVIECON’26 on 17th April 2026. The event commenced at 12:00 PM and concluded around 2:00 PM. Around 16 participants took part in the mono-acting competition, with an audience of approximately 40 students who gathered to witness and support the performances. Participants were assembled and ready by 11:40 AM, and the judge arrived shortly after at 11:50 AM. The event began with the introduction of the judge, Ms. Debirupa Shyam, an alumnus of the Drama Club and an experienced performer in street plays, stage plays, mime, and short films. The emcee introduced her, followed by a briefing of the rules and evaluation criteria before the performances began. Each participant was given two minutes to perform, with an additional buffer time of 1.5 minutes. They were free to present either a monologue from a movie or an original script. Participants were judged based on acting, expressions, body language, and voice modulation. The performances were engaging and expressive, capturing the audience’s attention and showcasing a range of emotions and creativity.
After all performances, the judge addressed the participants, appreciating their efforts and encouraging them to continue refining their skills. She shared insights into the art of acting and emphasized the importance of such platforms in developing confidence and artistic expression. The event concluded on a successful note, with enthusiastic applause from the audience. “Echo” proved to be a platform for showcasing talent, creativity, and passion, making it a memorable part of MOVIECON’26.

MOVIECON’26 – House of Olympus (Costume Con)

VENUE: Open Stage, New Horizon College of Engineering

  The Drama Club, in collaboration with the Art Club, conducted the event “House of Olympus (Costume Con)” as part of the grand fest MOVIECON’26 on 17th April 2026. The event commenced at 2:00 PM and concluded around 3:30 PM. Several participants took part in the event, along with an enthusiastic audience of over 50 students who gathered to witness and enjoy the performances. All participants assembled by 1:30 PM, fully prepared to showcase their creativity and performance skills. The judge arrived at 1:40 PM, and the event began with her introduction. Mrs. Mohaka, a Drama Club alumna turned actor, was introduced by the emcee, after which she addressed the participants, appreciating their enthusiasm and encouraging them to express their acting potential.

Participants were evaluated based on character accuracy, stage presence, creativity, costume, and overall impact. Each participant was given 2 to 3 minutes to perform. The performances included walk and pose, dialogue delivery, and acting accompanied by music. Bonus points were awarded for incorporating iconic dialogues, expressive storytelling, strong emotional portrayal, and impressive costumes.
The participants delivered captivating performances, bringing their chosen characters to life with confidence and creativity. Their expressions, costumes, and stage presence kept the audience engaged and entertained throughout the event.In conclusion, “House of Olympus (Costume Con)” was a grand success, showcasing talent, creativity, and enthusiasm. MOVIECON’26 – Labyrinth (Murder Mystery)

VENUE: Tejas Seminar Hall, New Horizon College of Engineering

The Drama Club, in collaboration with the Art Club, conducted the event “Labyrinth (Murder Mystery)” as part of the grand fest MOVIECON’26 on 17th April 2026. The event commenced at 2:00 PM and concluded around 5:00 PM. Around 26 teams participated in the event, with each team consisting of 4 members, bringing the total number of participants to 104. All participants assembled by 1:45 PM, fully prepared for the event. The session began with an introduction, followed by a video presentation that gave participants a deeper understanding of the theme and structure of the mystery they were about to solve.

Each team was provided with detailed case files and a single answer sheet. They were given 90 minutes to analyze clues, connect evidence, identify the killer, and determine the motive. The task required teamwork, critical thinking, and attention to detail. Participants were evaluated based on the accuracy of their conclusions, the time taken, and the clarity and completeness of their answers. The participants showed great enthusiasm and engagement, carefully examining the clues and collaborating effectively within their teams. The atmosphere remained intellectually stimulating and interactive throughout the event. In conclusion, “Labyrinth (Murder Mystery)” was a great success, showcasing the analytical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving skills of the participants. The event provided a unique and engaging platform for students to immerse themselves in a challenging and exciting mystery-solving experience.

MOVIECON’26 – Apollo’s Vision (Short Movie Making)

The Drama Club, in collaboration with the Art Club, conducted the event “Apollo’s Vision” as part of the grand fest MOVIECON’26 on 17th April 2026. The event commenced at 12:00 PM and concluded around 2:00 PM. Around 5 participants took part in the short movie-making event, with an audience of approximately 25–30 students who enthusiastically witnessed and supported the event. All participants were seated and prepared by 11:50 AM. The event began with the introduction of the judge, Mr. Rakshith M P, an alumnus of the Drama Club and a versatile performer with experience in street plays, stage plays, mime, and short films. The introduction was delivered by the emcee, followed by a briefing of the rules and regulations before the screening of the films began.
Participants were evaluated based on story and originality, audience impact, direction, acting, cinematography, editing, and overall technical quality. Each short film had a maximum screening time of 60 minutes. Participants were allowed to submit films that were produced within a span of one year. Following the screenings, the judge addressed the participants and appreciated their efforts in showcasing their creativity and storytelling abilities. He spoke about the various aspects of short filmmaking, including acting, editing, and direction, and encouraged participants to continue exploring the art form.

In conclusion, “Apollo’s Vision” was a great success, highlighting the creativity, storytelling skills, and dedication of all participants. Each film reflected imagination, teamwork, and effort, making the event a memorable experience for both creators and the audience. The audience responded with enthusiastic applause and positive feedback.

MOVIECON’26 – Scribe of Athena (Scriptwriter’s Event)

The Drama Club, in collaboration with the Art Club, conducted the event “Scribe of Athena” as part of the grand fest MOVIECON’26 on 17th April 2026. The event was held in an online format and saw around 9 participants who enthusiastically took part in the scriptwriting competition. The event provided a platform for aspiring writers to express their creativity through storytelling. Participants explored their imaginative abilities, each presenting a unique narrative voice and perspective through their scripts.

Designed to encourage originality, imagination, and depth in storytelling, the event invited participants to submit their scripts digitally, ensuring accessibility and flexibility. The submissions showcased a wide variety of genres and themes, ranging from psychological thrillers with layered narratives and unexpected twists, to emotional dramas focusing on human relationships and personal growth.

Some participants explored fantasy and speculative fiction, creating imaginative worlds and symbolic storytelling, while others focused on slice-of-life narratives, capturing everyday emotions with realism and depth. Each script highlighted the participants’ ability to develop characters, build atmosphere, and convey meaningful themes.

Despite being conducted online, the event maintained strong engagement and enthusiasm. The digital format ensured a smooth submission and evaluation process, making the event fair and accessible to all participants.

In conclusion, “Scribe of Athena” was a successful event, showcasing the literary talent and creative potential of the participants. It stood as a testament to the power of storytelling, proving that even in a virtual setting, imagination can truly come alive.

MOVIECON’26 – Medusa’s Gaze (Face Painting)

The Drama Club, in collaboration with the Art Club, conducted the event “Medusa’s Gaze” as part of the grand fest MOVIECON’26 – “Greek Theatre” on 17th April 2026. The event commenced at 1:00 PM and concluded around 3:00 PM. Around 12 participants registered and actively took part in the face painting competition. All participants reported by 12:30 PM to ensure a smooth start. The event began with a brief introduction to the theme inspired by Greek mythology. Participants were encouraged to use their imagination, creativity, and technical skills to bring their artistic concepts to life.
Participants were given a time limit of two hours to complete their artwork. The theme revolved around mythical elements, particularly inspired by Medusa and Greek aesthetics. They were judged based on creativity, relevance to the theme, detailing, color combination, and overall presentation. The participants showcased exceptional talent, transforming faces into visually striking pieces of art. The designs ranged from fierce mythological characters to intricate symbolic patterns, captivating the audience throughout the event.

In conclusion, “Medusa’s Gaze” was a great success, highlighting the artistic abilities and creativity of the participants.
