- Each solo poem must be of the poet’s own creation
- Usage of paper or phone to read out the poem is not allowed. The poem must be memorized
- Time limit: 3 minutes (plus10 seconds grace period). If the poet goes over time, 0.5 point for every 10 seconds will be deducted from the total score
- The poem may NOT include sexist, racist, homophobic, or transphobic comments. However, anger, upset and frustration are legit emotions to express in your poem, just be creative in how you go about doing it. Vulgarity will lead to immediate disqualification
- All styles are welcomed and encouraged – theatrical monologue, literary poetry, sound poetry, dub poetry, rants, haikus, power raps, etc
