INITIUM

INITIUM’23, is a literary & music fest hosted by 5 extra-curricular clubs of NHCE, they are
Literary club, Drama Club, Music Club, Art Club, and Media Club. The day commenced at
10:00 am with the Inauguration Ceremony, presided by Dr. Manjunath, Principal of NHCE.
The ceremony was held at Auditorium it began with a welcome address and
innovation song which was followed by the lighting of the lamp by all the dignitaries present
in the auditorium, Dr. Anitha Rai and all the HODs, after which the principal announced
INITIUM’23 open.

                         

The ceremony was concluded with a cultural performance and National Anthem. And then
the events commenced.

 

Events were held around multiple locations on  campus, the event locations included
Auditorium, Falconry Hall, Quadrangle, MBA seminar Hall, MBA classrooms, VC room,
and the Digital Library.

There were a total of 16 events hosted by different clubs, Pop-culture quiz, Multiverse of
Madness, Turncoat Debate, Parliamentary Debate, Aircrash, Squid Games, Open Mic, Album
Art Making, Solo Instrumental, Group Singing, Beat Box Battle, Push-up contest, Murder
Mystery, Improv and Gaming. Overall the fest was a success and the students learned a lot
and had fun.

 


EVENT NAME: Aircrash
ORGANIZING CLUB: Literary Club
DATE : 31st May 2023
TIME : 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Kamikaze
The event consisted of 2 rounds, parcipants were grouped in teams of 6 and assigned
characters based on the chit that they picked. A me of 90 seconds was provided to each
speaker to convince the judges as to why they should be the one geng the parachute. The
ones with the highest score moved to the next round.
The Second round was an interacve session with the judges, wherein the parcipants
acvely took part in showcasing their literary, argumentave and acng skills.
There was a total turn – up of 17 parcipants from various colleges out of which 8 made it to the final round.

EVENT NAME: Album art-making

 DAWN FM
The Album Art Making event was held in the college’s digital library, serving as a perfect
backdrop for creave collaboraon and exploraon. It was a part of the larger INITIUM Pop
Culture Fest, which aimed to celebrate various facets of pop culture, including music, art,
movies, and more.
This event was organised to foster creavity and arsc expression among college students
and also to highlight the significance of album art in the digital music industry while
providing an opportunity for students to collaborate and showcase their talent and to
encourage students to explore digital design tools and techniques.

                               

The event began with an introducon, outlining the objecves, rules, and judging criteria to
the parcipants. The rules emphasized the requirement for parcipants to create original
album art designs within the given me frame. The event showcased the parcipants’
diverse arsc styles, techniques, and interpretaons of album art.

Event Name: Beatbox Bale

BOOTS & CATS
The event showcased an array of talented beatboxers, aracng a diverse audience of music
enthusiasts, performers, and curious onlookers. It aimed to showcase the skills, creavity,
and arstry of beatboxers through head-to-head compeons. The event featured a series
of eliminaon rounds, leading to the crowning of a champion. It aracted a diverse audience
of beatboxing enthusiasts, musicians, and fans of live performances. The event helped raise
awareness about beatboxing as an art form. By showcasing the incredible talent and
creavity of beatboxers, the bale highlighted the versality and musicality of vocal
percussion, promong beatboxing as a legimate and respected art form.
The event had a turn up of about 7 parcipants. They were given general rules such as
having 3 rounds in total.

Round 2: 1 minute.
Round 3: 1 minute (face-off).
The sense of camaraderie and shared love for beatbox created an inclusive environment that

EVENT NAME: GAMING
ORGANIZING CLUB: LITERARY CLUB

REBIBE ME JETT
The second edion of INITIUM recognized gaming as an integral part of its theme “POP
CULTURE”. The game selected for this tournament was VALORANT, a well-known free to
play FPS game and 12 teams of 5 parcipants from all over Bangalore parcipated in this
tournament with some of them being professional eSports teams.
Teams of 5 were required for this event. The event started off with direct knockout
matches, all the teams were fairly matched, every match was nail bing with the victor
being declared with mere single digits point difference. The teams displayed outstanding
coordinated plays, monumental recoveries, and phenomenal game sense but most of all
an extreme sportsman like behavior. The first round also had a loser’s bracket that
allowed the teams who lost inially to have a second chance. The points were calculated
dependent on the team’s performance in the first round as well as the loser’s bracket. The
knockout format connued leading up to the quarter and semifinals. All the matches
were moderated and recorded for any concerns that may arise with respect to cheating.

Treble Makers
The Group Singing Event, held during Inium 2023, brought together talented vocalists from
various colleges in a celebraon of musical camaraderie. The event aimed to showcase the
collecve talent and arstry of these promising singers and instrumentalists. Each college
presented their best musical ensemble, represenng the diversity and talent within their
respecve instuons while following the general rules and regulaons such as scking to
the me limit of 8+4 minutes. Anywhere between 6-10 parcipants were allowed to take
part per college and sing tracks of any genre.

                     

The sense of camaraderie and shared love for music created an inclusive environment that

EVENT NAME: Improv
ORGANISING CLUB: Drama Club

WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY
The event was conducted by drama club under the umbrella of INITIUM 23, it was curated
for all those people always bursng with wit, humour, and spontaneous responses, this was
the perfect opportunity to unleash the talent and show off their skills. This improve based
event was judged by Mr. Yashwanth Devraj, he is a passionate actor who has done mulple
short films and won awards for his acng in his college days. Accompanying him was our
in-house judge, Mr. Karthikeyan Umesh, the secretary of Drama club. It was a solo event,
were it got a total of 7 registraons, among which 4 parcipants are NHCE students. The
event consisted of 3 rounds,
Round 1: Whose line is it anyway? Queson-answer round.
In this round parcipants were asked to answer to the quesons asked by the
coordinators and it could be given only upon the bursng of balloons, addional points were
given to the wiest answers.
Round 2: Down the memory lane
Parcipants were given a quirky element, such as objects or any kind of emoons,
with which they had to come up with a story. The parcipant succeeding another parcipant
had to connue the story with the new element given to him.
Round 3: Inside Out- Switching emoons/ characters.

               

Here parcipants were put into groups and each group was given a situaon to play
out. In the group, parcipants were given different emoons and when the judge used to
call out ‘switch’, the parcipants had to change emoons in an clock format.
At the end of the event, marks from all 3 rounds were added up and winners were
announced on the basis of highest marks.

Games of Tones
The event celebrated the diversity of musical genres, ensuring a rich and varied experience
for the audience. Parcipants confidently explored classical, rock, folk, and contemporary
styles, demonstrang their versality and mastery over their instrument.
The event had a turn up of about 15 parcipants. They were given general rules such as
having 3+3 minutes to demonstrate their piece and to bring their own instruments. We
witnessed marvellous skill and passion exhibited by the musicians with different instruments
such as the guitar, the violin and even the ukulele.
The sense of camaraderie and shared love for music created an inclusive environment that

EVENT NAME: Squid Games

Squid Games
The event showcased the brilliant minds of a diverse crowd of talented minds, pop-culture
enthusiasts, and curious on-lookers. Squid games presented the parcipants with a series of
word games and that put their mind to the test. The one with the best vocabulary survives
the run. There were a total of 26 parcipants out of which 10 were selected to the 2nd
round and 4 for the final round .
The event spanned over of four rounds:
Round 1 – Riddle Race: This round consisted of quesons based on pop culture where
students answer MCQ quesons for points.
Round 2 – Wordle : Wordle is a word based game where the parcipants are supposed to
guess the five leer word within 6 tries.
Round 3 – House of Cards : This round is a trivia based on pop culture where students pick a
card from the given category and answer the queson or do as directed.
A spell bee had also been conducted for the parcipants as well as non-parcipants as an
engaging acvity

EVENT NAME: Murder Mystery
ORGANISING CLUB: Drama Club

TRUE DETECTIVE
True Detecves was hosted by the drama club under the umbrella of INITIUM 23. The event
was conducted in Falconry hall from 1:00pm to 5:00pm, it was a team event and each team
consisted of 3 members. A total of 15 teams had registered for the event. It was a
brain-srring event, where the parcipants play the role of a detecve, at the beginning of
the event a skit was enacted by the members of the drama club, leading to the murder.
From this point, the teams had to come up with quesons to solve the “Murder Mystery”,
they were given a me limit of 15 minutes for it. Aer that the teams were divided in
batches and each batch was given a me limit of 20 minutes to find the culprit behind the
killing. During the alloed me period the teams were allowed to walk around to invesgate
the crime scene and can pose four quesons to each of the actors regarding their
whereabouts during the murder and the backstory of the character.

                                 

 

 

 

 

 

The parcipants were tested to find the killer before me runs out. Aer the 20 minutes, an
addional me of 10 minutes was given for the detecves to write out the killer’s name and
give legimate reasoning as to why they concluded that parcular character as a killer.
Winners were announced not only on the basis of the answer but also on the me taken for
them to come up with it.

EVENT NAME: OPEN MIC
ORGANIZING CLUB: MEDIA CLUB

THE GREATEST SHOWMAN
The event starts at 11 am and the emcees introduce the event, rules, and regulations. An open
mic is a platform for participants to showcase their talents like singing, poetry, monologues,
rapping, and stand-up comedy. Students from various colleges across Bangalore attended and
were each allotted 3 minutes to perform excluding set-up time. Judging criteria: stage presence,
skill level
A total of 19 participants wooed the crowd and judges with their talents. The event wrapped up

The open mic event featured an impressive range of performances, including live music acts,
stand-up comedy routines, poetry recitals, spoken word performances, and more. Attendees
were treated to a captivating display of artistic expressions. The open mic event fostered a
warm and inclusive environment that encouraged performers of all skill levels to share their
work. The audience members actively engaged with the performers, providing applause,
cheers, and encouraging feedback, which boosted the confidence of those on stage.
The performers exhibited a remarkable level of talent and passion throughout the event.
From soulful singers to hilarious comedians and thought-provoking poets, each act brought a
unique flavor to the stage, captivating the audience and creating a vibrant atmosphere.

EVENT NAME: PARLIAMENTARY DEBATE

HOUSE OF CARDS
The event was conducted in the standard Brish parliamentary debate format and hosted a
set of enthusiasc and arculate debaters. The 2V2 format of debang was followed with
two sides-The government and the opposion with both members from every team ,each
giving opening and closing statements. A total of 25 teams took part in this debate and an
intense debang session ensued as the event progressed. Three rounds of this debate were
conducted where different perspecves on polical and social topics were meculously put
worth by the debaters. The event witnessed a holisc approach on numerous topics that are
relevant to the society and were very compevely debated upon.

                   

In the end, it was the shared passion for heated debates that fueled parcipants to put their
best foot forward. Extending a hearty congratulaons to all the winners!

EVENT NAME: PUSH-UP CONTEST
ORGANIZING CLUB: THE LITERARY CLUB

ARM-AGEDDON
The event was a test of Strength and Endurance. The event drew a diverse group of parcipants,
including fitness enthusiasts, athletes, and individuals looking to challenge themselves
physically. Parcipants from across colleges were compeng in a bale of strength against me.
The parcipants were alloed a me of two minutes to as many push-ups as possible. A panel
of qualified judges monitored the parcipants’ push-ups, ensuring proper form and counng
each repeon while a phenomenal and enthusiasc crowd cheered their favorite fitness freak.
The day witnessed fierce compeon as parcipants aimed to surpass their personal bests and
outperform their competors. Winners were determined based on the highest number of
correct push-up repeons completed within the designated me limit.

The event served as a plaorm for individuals to demonstrate their fitness prowess and challenge
their own best self.

Event Name: POP CULTURE QUIZ

REQUIZ FOR A DREAM
Held under the banner of a vast range of literary and cultural events for the sake of the
second edion of INTIUM and themed “POP CULTURE” this quiz was conducted in a mul
round mode with nearly sixteen teams from all over Bangalore parcipang with much
enthusiasm and gutso.
Teams of two students were allowed. The quiz started off with a preliminary round with
quesons directed at every team and those that answered mulple correct answers headed
to the next round where we had an increased level of difficulty as well the opon of Bounce
and Pounce. This round saw a heavy upstage in the rankings appearing with two teams in
clear lead. The quesons ranged from Hollywood movies, Bollywood phenomena, to origins
of iconic Rock and Roll music and Football manager’s fashion choices. We explored classics
as well as trending topics and the latest in the sphere of the showy and flashy and the
obscure.

The final round was a unique connect type round where pictures of an overarching theme
were lined up for the purpose of seeking a common theme and each slide taken to make the
guess would decrement the points available for the queson. The quiz had a sasfying and
mutually agreed conclusion with Teams from Nie Meenakshi Instute of Technology and
New Horizon College of Engineering emerging as the First Place Winners and the Runners Up
respecvely.

EVENT NAME: TREASURE HUNT

NATIONAL TREASURE
The Treasure Hunt event held on 31st May at NHCE was a thrilling and engaging experience
for all parcipants. With a total of 20 teams, each consisng of 4 members, the event saw
acve parcipaon and teamwork from all parcipants. The first round of the event started
with QR code scanning, where teams received clues for the next locaon along with riddles
to solve. The teams demonstrated their problem-solving abilies by deciphering the riddles
and navigang through the event area, moving from one locaon to another. Points were
allocated based on the number of riddles correctly solved, the correct order of soluons,
and the me taken to reach the final locaon. The top 8 teams were selected based on their
accumulated points, which were awarded fairly and transparently. Overall, the first round of
the Treasure Hunt event was a resounding success, showcasing the parcipants’ enthusiasm
and teamwork.


In the second round of the event, teams connued their quest to locate the next desnaon
by deciphering clues. Each locaon was carefully chosen to add excitement and diversity to
the event, including popular spots and landmarks. At each locaon, dedicated volunteers
were present to hand out subsequent clues to the parcipang teams. This ensured that
parcipants not only had to rely on their problem-solving skills but also had the opportunity
to explore their surroundings and interact with the community. The second round added an
element of adventure and discovery to the event, further enhancing the overall experience
for the teams.

Face – Off
Debang with yourself and arguing your stance, Face-off recreates debang in an all-new
avatar where the students will have to debate against themselves and argue for both sides
of the coin. It’s all about balance. The aim of organising face – off was to hone the public
speaking skills of the parcipants, while also teaching them to be arculate while expressing
their opinions.
There were a total of 8 parcipants compeng against each other, debang against both
sides to master the art of turn-coat. It was an extremely engaging event, and it was the
kaleidoscope of differing opinions/various ways of inferring the same informaon.
