                            FOUNDER’S DAY 2023

Founder’s Day at our college is an exuberant celebration that brings together students, faculty and alumni in a vibrant display of pride and gratitude. The college community eagerly gathers to celebrate the esteemed Chairman’s birthday with immense joy and admiration. The campus is adorned with festive decorations, reflecting the Chairman’s personality and accomplishments. Here’s how the dance club celebrated our chairman’s birthday.
 

1. Welcome Dance 

    

Our amazing Founder’s day kickstarted with a beautiful amalgam of most graceful dance forms. The welcome dance performed by the students of NHCE and NHCM began at the main gate further escorting our cheif guests till the Chatrapati Shivaji Block was a sight to behold. The dance was a fusion of classical and folk dance i.e. Yakshagana, Bharatnatyam, Mohiniyattam and Hulivesha performed on the infamous song Varaha Roopam from Kantara. This vibrant and authentic performance had us all tapping our hands and feet to the beats. It was a beautiful effort put up by our students. We only have more coming on the way.
 

 2. Invocation Dance

                
 
 The celebration of our chairman’s birthday started with evoking the blessings of Almighty to purify and prepare the state through dance.  The audience was warmly welcomed with an invocation dance performed in the graceful semi-classical style, set to the enchanting beats of the “Deva Shree Ganesha” song. A group of six talented classical dancers accompanied the performance, their movements seamlessly blending with the presence of Lord Ganesha, symbolizing auspicious beginnings and divine blessings.
 

 3.Rasleela: a dance of divine enchantment

                                       

 
RASLEELA, the dance of passion. The joyful dance of Krishna Radha and the Gopis is a legend everyone knows about but this time we got the chance to witness it, all thanks to our students who brought this visionary to life. The sounds of the bracelets, anklets and bells of the gopis bring in the perfect harmony with the song. This dance had us all in awe of its beauty and grace, and not just us, even the Chairman and his family wholeheartedly caught in the moves.

      NISARG 2023 – NEW HORIZON COLLEGE                                           KASTURI NAGAR

                                         DANCE BATTLE – 1ST PLACE
 

                       

Abhisekh, the Maestro of Movement who electrified the stage and clinched the coveted first place at Nisarg Fest’s Solo Dance Battle! With an unparalleled display of skill and charisma, Abhisekh left the audience in awe as he seamlessly fused the rhythm of hip-hop with the grace of fluid motion.
He representing NHCE, wowed the crowd and judges at the Fest. His seamless blend of hip hop and fluid movements earned him the top spot in the competition.

 VEMANOTHSAV 2023 – VEMANA INSTITUTE 

                                 OF TECHNOLOGY

                       

 
The NHCE Streets team showcased an impeccable performance in the group dance category of Vemanothsav 2k23, the Annual Inter-collegiate fest of Vemana Institute of technology held on 16th June 2023. The choreography was in a class by itself, a beguiling combination of slow, graceful movements with powerful, striking moves. The team had the audience cheering for them till the end. The team did it big; did it right; and did it with style. Here’s to a performance that will continue to remain in our heads and hearts.
 

                         REVELATIONS 2023

A cool summer fest with the theme fiesta euphorica came back for this years
revelations on 27th of May. The inaugaration was held in the NHCE
auditorium which started with lighting of the lamp and then followed by an
energetic invocation dance performed by the NHCE Dance team. We also performed a theme dance as the theme suggests Fiesta Euphorica which was filled with happiness and fun.

 Indian Classical solo dance was one such dance event that was conducted by the dance club in which the participants had to dance a classical form but for western or bollywood music. It was a mixed fusion of performances which was different and challenging.

 

           AMAR SHAEED HEMU KALANI’S

                        BIRTHDAY TRIBUTE

                                       

 On the birthday of the freedom fighter, Amar Shaheed Hemu Kalani there was a cultural event on 23rd March for which we paid tribute to him. The NHCE Dance club performed  executed the main important part of his life story through dance. This act consisted of the hardships faced by Hemu Kalani in the Indian freedom struggle.

 

               WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATION

                                        

 As we celebrate Womens day on March 9th we the members of  NHCE Dance team performed an auspicious invocation dance on a lord Ganesha song and we also performed a contemporary dance about Women Empowerment.
This dance had a sequence with blindfolds and a section with colourful moon lights depicting how women overcome their fears, attain self confidence, embrace equity and achieve their goals.

 

     SCINTILLATIONS 2023 – JYOTI NIVAS                                             COLLEGE      

                       

The Indian Dance Event held at Jyoti Nivas College showcased a mesmerizing display of talent and creativity. Among the captivating performances, the highlight of the evening was a stunning contemporary dance presented by our very own college dance team. This particular performance had previously won numerous accolades, and its breathtaking execution left the audience spellbound once again. The dancers’ impeccable synchronization, graceful movements, and expressive storytelling captivated the hearts of all who witnessed it. The team’s exceptional performance garnered immense appreciation and applause from the enthusiastic crowd, cementing their reputation as a formidable force in the world of dance. It was truly a memorable and awe-inspiring moment for everyone present at the event.

               MAHADEVPURA KALA UTSAV                                

                   

  Mahadevpura Kala Utsav was held on 4th February in New Horizon College of Engineering by the RWA team on the account of Mr. Arvind Limbavali’s birthday. Many teams of dance schools and colleges across bangalore took part in this event and we, the NHCE Dance team performed Brindavani thillana. The event ended with a dance drama depicting the story of Sri Rama Hanumantha which was beautifully depicted and executed.

                                  UDAAN

                       

                     

Udaan is an entrepreneurship event hosted by MBA department of NHCE. The chief guest for this event was Mr.Tejasvi Surya. This event was held on January 9th.The
Dance Club performed an invocation dance and a contemporary dance depicting
self confidence, will power and wings to fly. The winners of Udaan were awarded
and the end of the event. Our team performed beautifully for the event.

 

Kannada Rajyotsava

Kannada Rajyotsava is also known as the Karnataka formation day is celebrated throughout the month on November. This month induces pride and joy amongst the people of Karnataka and onsets the season of celebration in the state throughout the month. New Horizon College of
Engineering organized a day of celebration on 30th November for it’s students. The NHCE dance club increased the vigour of the event and enticed the crowd with their dance performance highlighting the festivities and importance of Kannada Rajyotsava in the state.

 

SARGAM fest

The 3-day extravaganza, a fest that turns all back, Sargam-The Rudra Factor was organised on 25th and 26th of November 2022.  The main highlights of the fest were the dance events. The NHCE Dance Team performed an energetic flashmob to prepare the crowd for the fest of the year and reveal the theme – “SARGAM:THE RUDRA FACTOR”. The theme was a very vibrant and powerful one; colleges all over Bangalore took part in the fest, and put up a successful fest. Dance teams from New Horizon College of Engineering participated in all the four events of the fest and put up a great show.

The dance events of SARGAM ’22 are as follows:

1) Filmy/Bollywood Dance

 

Bollywood dance is a form of dance originating from Indian cinema. The style has gained international popularity and is featured in many Bollywood films, which often feature elaborate choreography. Our NHCE Dance team put up a great show in the event and enticed the crowd with their moves and expressions.

2) Contemporary Dance

Contemporary dance is a style of dance that draws on modern and postmodern dance techniques, combining elements of ballet and modern dance. NHCE Dance Team danced with utmost grace and charm, eventually standing as the 1st Runners up in the event.

3). Streets/ Hip hop Dance

HipHop is a range of street dance style primarily evolved as part of HipHop. It’s a form of street dance that began as a freestyle dance, that uses body movements to create rhythm while performing hip hop music. NHCE dance team again gave a nerve cracking clean and coordinated performance and bagged 2nd Runners Up in their tally.

4) MEGA EVENT- Tandav

                                  

Tandav also known as Tandava Natyam, is a divine dance performed by Hindu god Shiva. Shiva is depicted as dancing the Tandava in his form of Nataraja. The Natya Shastra, a Sanskrit treatise on the performing arts describes various aspects of the Tandava. In this theme based dance, NHCE Dance Team not just brought the 1st Runners Up trophy but also got a standing ovation from our Honorable Chairman Sir and bagged a massive appreciation gift inclusive of a sum of Rs. 2.5 Lacs.

                            DEEPOTSAVA

Diwali is an important festival in India and is celebrated with great enthusiasm. New Horizon College, celebrated Diwali with great cultural events for 4 consecutive days. To make the event more special, NHCE Dance Team preformed 3 different forms of dance to entertain the audience of the evening.

1) INVOCATION DANCE

“OM GAN GANPATHAYE NAMAH”

                                     

Invocation dance is a form of prayer and offering to the divine. Lord Ganesha is praised in the classical dance form performed by both NHCE & NHCM dancers in collaboration.

2)CULTURAL DANCE

                             

Garba is a form of dance which originates from the state of Gujarat in India to honor the Hindu Deity of Divinity, “GODDESS DURGA”. It is performed during the nine-day Indian festival Navaratri. The NHCE Dance Team preformed a beautiful “Garba” dance emphasizing the ritual of dandiya on the ninth day of Navratri.

3) Dance + Drama Performance

                                   

The NHCE Dance Team in collaboration with NHCE Drama Team performed dance drama on the Mythological stories informing the youth the sole reasons of celebrating Diwali. There are two reasons behind celebrating Diwali, one is the story of King Rama’s return to Ayodhya after he defeated Ravana by lightning rows of clay lamps and other as the day that Lord
Krishna defeated the demon Narakasura and today it celebrated as Naraka
Chaturdashi. 

                                         

                      GANESH CHATHURTHI 

                                     

The NHCE Dance club started this academic year with a dance performance on Ganesh Chaturthi marking this as the truest of “shubh aarambhs” for the club. The festivities of Ganesh Chathurthi included a grand pooja and aarti followed by a spendid performance for Lord Ganesha by our students showcasing their devotion to the lord. This performance was praised by all and applause echoed across the stadium.
