Code Carnival

Code Carnival illuminated the innovation and skill of students in technology and logic. It showcased individual talents while reinforcing the collaborative and competitive spirit within our academic community.

Club organized Code Carnival featuring two intense rounds:

Brainiacs” was a 30 minutes quiz round, where student answered multiple-choice questions related to technical, logical and programming languages.

The final round comprised “Jigsaw“, “Morse Code“, “Cypher Challenge” and a “Programming Logic“, which was to be done simultaneously, testing problem-solving, decoding skills, cryptography, and coding proficiency.

Fictional Story Writing

Vibrant Moments Unveiled! On January 19, 2024, our dynamic event unfolded, celebrating creativity and cultural richness.

🎨 The Poster Design competition, themed ‘Indian Cultural Heritage,’ showcased a kaleidoscope of artistic expressions, each poster narrating a unique tale of India’s cultural diversity. Enthusiastic participants wowed us with their imaginative designs and left an indelible mark.

📖 Amidst the excitement, our Fictional Story Writing event transported us to enchanting realms crafted by participants armed with pens and boundless creativity. From intricate plots to fantastical tales, each story was a testament to the participants’ storytelling prowess.

FOSS Fever

The FOSS CLUB successfully organized an event on March 12th, 2024, consisting of three rounds: the Mind Marathon, Rush to Master, and QR Hunt.

🧠In the Mind Marathon, participants as a team of two answered 40 MCQ questions on open-source software within 20 minutes, with 8 teams shortlisted based on scores and time management.

🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️The Rush to Master round required teams to learn Blender, a 3D modeling software, within an hour, with 3 teams advancing based on performance.

🔍🏆In the final QR Hunt round, participants scanned QR codes to solve riddles and find locations on campus, with winners determined by task efficiency.

Expert Talks

GoLang

On September 16, 2023, the FOSS Club orchestrated an enlightening expertise talk on the GO programming language, featuring distinguished MCA alumnus Mohammed Yaseen Harun, presently a senior software engineer at Oracle Centre Bangalore. Yaseen, part of the 2016-19 batch, shared insights from his four years of industry experience, unraveling the multifaceted facets of Go Language.

The discourse explored Go’s foundations, modeled after C with modern features. Endorsed by Google, Go found application in major tech platforms. Yaseen highlighted key features, applications in various fields, and strengths like simplicity, automatic garbage collection, fast compile time, and strong typing.

Trade-offs, including sacrificing some runtime safety for performance, were acknowledged. Yaseen delved into core concepts—control statements, functions, variadic functions, anonymous functions, main and init functions, the defer keyword, methods, arrays, slices, and more. The session concluded by emphasizing Go’s pivotal role in the programming language landscape, seamlessly blending efficiency and contemporary features for a potent and accessible coding platform.

DevOps & DSA

The department of MCA in association with Foss club and Automatez organized an Expert-talk on DevOps, DSA and Resume crafting. The tech talk session was handled by two industry experts, Mr. Venkatesh N P, a Software Developer at JP Morgan Chases & Co and Mr. Pandu Kumar A N, a Software Engineer at ADTRAN.

The first session was handled by Mr. Venkatesh where he gave the students a brief insight in to the World of DevOps and Docker. He also gave us a practical implementation on AWS. The second session was handled by Mr. Pandu Kumar where he gave us a detailed explanation on DSA, he also gave the students an idea on how to build a resume and the key points of a resume.

Overall, the session was very informative and hope it will help the students in sculpting their career and help them in getting placed in their dream companies. We extend our sincere gratitude to all participants for their active engagement and enthusiastic participation. Their dedication significantly contributed to the success of the event.

Social Activities

Unlocking Potential

On 9th July, 2024, FOSS CLUB and GEC CLUB were pleased to conduct an event featuring an outreach program at the Government Higher Primary School, Ibbaluru.


In the outreach program “UNLOCKING POTENTIAL”, the students of FOSS club and GEC club interacted with the students of the Government Higher Primary School, Ibbaluru. The students of 3rd to 7th standard were given a brief idea about basics of computer and different software such as Blender and Scratch. The students enjoyed the animations and AR models created by the members of the FOSS club on their Instagram page.


The students were also given a brief idea about the nature and renewable sources of energy from the students of the GEC club. The students conducted various games and activities which were aimed to help inculcate learning in the young student minds.
