International day against Drug Abuse

26th June is observed as the International Day against Drug Abuse and on the occasion the Department of Counselling, New Horizon College of Engineering (NHCE) planned to organize a seminar on “Drug Abuse and intervention- Why No to Drugs?” along with a walkathon rally with the students of NHCE.
The objective of the campaign was to take a stand against drugs abuse and educate our youth; making them aware of the hazards of drug addiction and the adverse consequences of drug abuse.

The day was planned around the seminar which was held on the 28th of June, 2022 at 11.30AM, in the NHCE Auditorium. The college invited skillful and professional speakers – Dr. Gitanjali, Professor and consultant in addiction, NIMHANS, Bangalore and Dr. Reena Jain, Chief Counsellor, NHCE, Bangalore. The awareness was carried forward with a Walkathon Rally on the 29th of June, 2022 – inaugurated by the chief guest for the event – police inspector Mr. SLR Reddy at 11AM. The rally started from the college premises, moving swiftly towards New Horizon Gurukul School onto Vishal Mega Mart sauntering to the Kadubeesanahalli Circle and circling back to the NHCE sports grounds.

This International Day against Drug Abuse NHCE made prolific effort towards reducing the percentage of adults, globally, that are currently addicted by spreading the message loud and clear!
