OCTOBER EDITION
Beginners guide to kill time
Have you ever wondered, what if you stopped wondering? Life would be better without fake scenarios, over-expectations, and procrastination, wouldn’t it?
Myth
Your wonders create wonders; it’s something to cherish, not ignore. Have you ever come across a crazy scenario in your head and thought it was too much for people to take, but it was just too good? That adrenaline rush that makes you feel like giving up everything for it?!
Steve Jobs came up with the idea of creating Apple during a ‘calligraphy class’—we all know how that worked out.
One can be wise and part of the hustle with the usual degree and ‘required’ skill set. But everyone who’s made a difference in this world did do something different, nothing extraordinary but just differently.
Now, the obvious question is, what to do…? Answer: (Drum roll, please!!)
Time pass
Yep, exactly what you do every day, just smartly. Whatever crazy thing you ever thought of doing when you were little, playing guitar, skating, get up and do it. Studies say that if you pick up a field and work on it for at least 20 minutes daily, you will be ahead of 90% of people in the same field by the end of a year. Preferably something out of the box for you, who knows the inner you anyway? Do you even know yourself enough? Never stop exploring it. Cause you can’t; that’s the nature of life: animals chase food, and humans chase answers. Curiosity ought to be the one thing that ignites your existence. So how about you play with that fire and build a whole new you?!
Complications in life are brought and nurtured by no one but yourself. That’s mostly because an idle mind is a devil’s workshop. Our brain can’t stop running; in order to keep it on track, we have to keep it occupied with something…
We’re in the age of “I don’t even know what to do this evening, forget surety about life”. One step at a time, make up interesting ways to spend your evenings; that’s how you make up your life.
The Highs and Lows of Boeing: From Skies to Scandals
What comes to mind when you hear Boeing? Chances are, you’re picturing the iconic 747—the “Queen of the Skies.” Boeing has been a giant in aviation for decades, and it is known for building some of the most successful planes in history. But in recent years, things have taken a troubling turn. It’s a story of innovation gone awry, cost-cutting measures, and a shift in corporate focus that’s had tragic consequences.
The 737 Max crashes of Lion Air Flight 610 and Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 were traced back to a malfunction in the MCAS system—a software designed to prevent stalling but instead caused these planes to nosedive. Boeing didn’t adequately train pilots to handle this system, cutting corners to avoid costly certifications. This rush to compete with Airbus and save money ended up costing lives.
It wasn’t just a software failure; the real issue stemmed from Boeing’s corporate culture shift. After merging with McDonnell Douglas in 1997, Boeing seemed more focused on profits than the innovation and safety it was once known for. Whistleblowers within the company raised concerns about reduced safety inspections, but these warnings were brushed aside. The result? Boeing’s reputation, once golden, was now in free fall.
In the aftermath, Boeing faced worldwide scrutiny. While regulators in other countries grounded the 737 Max immediately after the second crash, the FAA hesitated, only doing so after mounting pressure. Investigations revealed Boeing knew about the system flaws long before the crashes, sparking outrage from the public and victims’ families. The global grounding of the 737 Max left Boeing with financial and legal woes that it’s still dealing with today.
Now let’s fast-forward to Boeing’s ongoing battle with its Starliner spacecraft, which is meant to be used on NASA projects. NASA is worried about Starliner’s intended return from the International Space Station for astronauts Sunita Williams and Barry Wilmore due to ongoing technical problems. Numerous issues beset the spacecraft, including engine malfunctions and Helium leakage. Safety concerns have Williams and Wilmore scheduled to return aboard SpaceX’s Crew Dragon in 2025 despite their successful docking. Many question whether Boeing will ever be able to recover from its nearly $1.4 billion loss on the Starliner project.
In a nutshell, Boeing’s story is one of high-flying success brought down by a focus on profits over people. From the 737 Max to Starliner, the company’s shift away from safety and quality has led to devastating consequences for its reputation and future. Whether Boeing can bounce back and reclaim its former glory remains an open question.
When Diwali met Halloween : A Tale of Light and Shadows!
Picture this: Diwali’s diyas shining bright, while just a few feet away, Halloween’s jack-o’-lanterns grin mischievously. The ladoos are eyeing the candy corn, wondering, “Are we really sharing the spotlight today?” It sounds like a wild combination, right? But here we are, about to celebrate the brightest festival and the spookiest one on the same day.
At first glance, they seem like polar opposites; one celebrates light, and the other embraces the dark. But, as life often teaches us, things aren’t always that simple. These two festivals aren’t clashing but bringing an epic fusion, reminding us of something deeper: that both light and darkness are not only necessary but beautifully intertwined.
I’ve always been a Diwali girl; give me fairy lights, sweets, and the chance to dress up, and I’m all in. But I’ve learned over time that life doesn’t always stay in the light. There have been moments when I’ve felt like I was walking through my own personal haunted house. And you know what? Those moments taught me just as much as the happy, glittering ones.
It’s like this: Diwali teaches us to find the light, even in the darkest corners, while Halloween teaches us to face our fears, sometimes with a scream, sometimes with a laugh. It’s like life is handing us both aDiya and a jack-o’-lantern and saying, “Here, you’re going to need both.”
That’s the magic of this unexpected festival fusion; it’s the perfect metaphor for life. We all want the light, the victories, and the happy endings that Diwali promises. But the truth is, we grow just as much from the darker, more uncertain parts. Sometimes, you need a little shadow to see just how bright the light can be.
So, this year, why not blend the magic? Light diyas in one hand, hold a pumpkin in the other, wear your spookiest outfit with a festive twist, and let ladoos and candies collide! Because who says light and shadow can’t shine together? Maybe the real question is: how will you turn this fusion into your own unforgettable celebration?
