TechForge Club Events

The Cohesion Crucible

Date & Time: 9/12/2025, 11:00 am onwards

Venue: New Horizon College of Engineering (IDEA Lab, C Block)

The event was organized as a dynamic platform to showcase the technical competence and innovative thinking of the participants while maintaining an engaging and interactive atmosphere. Various activities were conducted to highlight problem-solving skills, creativity, and practical application of technical knowledge. To ensure active audience involvement, light and enjoyable elements were incorporated between sessions, creating a balanced blend of learning and entertainment.

First Round: The first round was designed as a team-based challenge to test communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills. Each team consisted of three members, with specific limitations assigned to every participant—one member’s hands were tied and their mouth taped, another had their ears covered, and the third was blindfolded. The blindfolded participant was required to solve a given puzzle while relying entirely on guidance from the other two teammates. Despite their individual restrictions, the team had to effectively collaborate and convey instructions to complete the task. Points were awarded based on the speed and accuracy with which the puzzle was solved, emphasizing teamwork and strategic interaction under constrained conditions.

Second Round: The second round followed a structure similar to the first, retaining the same team roles and constraints to continue testing coordination and communication under challenging conditions. However, instead of a physical puzzle, the teams were provided with a piece of code containing multiple errors. Using a laptop with access to an online compiler, the blindfolded participant was required to debug and execute the program with guidance from the other two members. The task demanded logical thinking, technical knowledge, and precise instruction delivery, as the team had to identify and correct the errors collaboratively. Points were awarded based on the speed and accuracy of successfully running the corrected code, further emphasizing teamwork and technical problem-solving ability.

ISTE EVENT – DATA DIVE

Date & Time: 28/03/25 – 2pm onwards

Venue: New Horizon College of Engineering (AIML Labs 1 and 3)

18 Participants (9 Groups)

In Partnership with Data Analytics Club, we organized the event Data Dive. A two-round competition for the Indian Society for Technical Education, a State-level event held in New Horizon College of Engineering designed to test participants’ AI-assisted problem-solving, logical thinking, and analytical skills.

Round 1: teams decoded hidden messages from 15-20 second audio clips using AI tools like speech-to-text converters, ensuring no random guessing or external help. Successfully decoded messages advance teams to the next round, along with points rewarded based on their speed of results.

Round 2: participants must solve two mystery stories as quickly as possible. Each mystery comes with four available clues, but using them results in point deductions (ranging from 150 to 300 points). The fastest correct answer earns the highest score, and in the case of a tie, the team that used fewer clues ranks higher. Strict rules prohibit AI, online searches, and discussions with other teams. Strategic clue usage, logical thinking, and teamwork are key to winning the challenge.

KNOW IT ALL

Date & Time: 15/11/2024, 12:00PM onwards

Venue: New Horizon College of Engineering (A-311)

This event brought together a diverse group of participants eager to showcase their knowledge and skills in the fast-paced world of technology. With a mix of fun and intellectual challenge, the event was designed to engage attendees through interactive activities that highlighted both their technical expertise and critical thinking abilities.

First Round: It began with an engaging and entertaining a fun quiz hosted on the online platform Kahoot. This interactive quiz created a lively and competitive atmosphere, making the initial phase of the event both enjoyable and stimulating. The quiz covered a wide range of topics, testing participants’ knowledge on various aspects of technology. Participants were enthusiastic and displayed impressive knowledge, making it a close contest. Leaderboard kept everyone on their toes, adding to the overall thrill of the competition.

Out of all the participants, four teams demonstrated exceptional knowledge and quick thinking, earning their places in the next round.

Second Round: It was a debate centered on emerging tech topics, providing a platform for these teams to showcase their critical thinking and argumentative skills. The debates were intense and thought-provoking, with participants defending their positions and countering their opponents’ points.

After rigorous and thought-provoking debates, the winners were selected based on their performance in articulating their points and countering their opponents’ arguments.

VISIT TO ORPHANAGE

Date & Time: 6/05/2024

Venue: SAMARTHANAM TRUST

Number of Participants: 60-80

Volunteering in an orphanage can be a transformative experience, fostering personal growth by cultivating empathy, compassion, and new skills like communication and teamwork. Volunteers often form meaningful relationships with the children and staff, providing emotional support and positive role models. This interaction positively impacts the children’s self-esteem, social skills, and overall well-being. Additionally, volunteering offers a unique cultural exchange, exposing volunteers to different customs and traditions. By raising awareness about the needs of orphaned children, volunteers inspire others to get involved. Many find deep satisfaction in knowing they’re making a tangible difference in the lives of these vulnerable children.

CODE QUEST

Date & Time: 13/12/2023

Venue: C-221, Chhatrapati Shivaji Block

Number of Participants:72

On 13th December, 2023 the TechForge Club of New Horizon College of engineering (Computer engineering department) organized a treasure hunt that proved to be a challenge for the participating students. The hunt seamlessly integrated principles of science, critical thinking and technology, requiring participants to apply their academic knowledge in creative ways. The students were asked to pick chits that had riddles. Once they solved these riddles, they had the next location. Further, it led them back to where they started, the classroom. The final round was a rapid fire round between the first 5 teams to come back to class and the winning team was selected from this. The treasure hunt provided a unique opportunity for students to showcase their engineering prowess outside the classroom, blending learning with a thrilling adventure that left them with a newfound appreciation for teamwork and problem-solving in their field of study.

AQUATIC EXPRESSIONS

The next event we organized was “AQUATIC EXPRESSIONS” on 29th May, 2023. The objective of conducting this event on water awareness is to raise awareness in all levels of society about the importance of saving water to cope with its scarcity and ensure sustainability. The aim is to change citizen attitudes and behavior to improve water use efficiency. Such events can also help engage the students in topics such as: water conservation; hygienic water use; or preservation of ecosystems.

THE DAY OF GIVING

The next event we conducted was ”A DAY OF GIVING” on 12th May, 2023. A social service-based event that helped members to interact with children from an orphanage. 6 students from our club have visited the orphanage and spent quality time there. First, we asked the children to introduce themselves and tell rhymes. Then we asked them about their interests such as hobbies, what their ambition is, etc. Lastly, we asked them to perform what they are best at. For example, children sang and danced.
