A STUDY ON THE AWARENESS OF GOVERNMENT INITIATIVES ON SANITATION AND DRINKING WATER SUPPLY IN VALLEPURA, BANGALORE (RURAL)
The faculty members of the college had undertaken a minor research project to analyse the awareness of government initiatives on sanitation and drinking water in Vallepura under Kodathigram panchayat in Bangalore District of Karnataka. Eighty families were randomly selected for the purpose of the study from the list given to us by the panchayat. Heads of the Gram panchayat were contacted and informed about the purpose of the study. Their informed consent was taken. A pre tested close ended questionnaire was used to get the information. A group of faculty members along with students collected the data for the study. Parameters such as location, site, structure, drainages, water supply, water purification facilities, latrine, urinals and hand washing facilities in the houses for the study were based on government standards for increasing sanitation facilities and healthy water supply in rural India and the data was collected accordingly.
